Up-Level Your Social Media in the New Year: Add an Additional Platform for Posting Image

Throughout the month of January, we’ve been discussing ways you can up-level your business using social media in 2018. You’ve set your goals – and now it’s time to figure out how to achieve them. As you may already know, the best way to ensure your business gains exposure is to have an active social media presence with frequent posts, graphics, videos and plenty of interaction with followers.

A common mistake that we see business owners make when it comes to social media — using the wrong social media platforms to advertising their business, and/or skipping over platforms they should actually be paying more attention to. Below is a helpful guide of popular social media platforms and how they can be used to benefit your business.

Best for*: B2B and B2C
Regardless of what business you have, you must be active on Facebook. Live video is the top trend in 2018 – and there’s no better place to be streaming live than on Facebook. Organic growth is slow and steady, but boost a few posts and you’ll see more followers and better engagement.

Best for: B2C
Instagram is heavily image-based. That’s why it’s crucial for many industries including those within food, fashion, real estate and more. On this platform, hashtags are how you will be noticed. Use targeted hashtags and interact with other users for the best engagement.

Best for: B2B and B2C
Although Twitter doesn’t always receive the high numbers of engagement from customers and clients, it will benefit your business by showing another active platform – which assists with Google SEO.

Best for: B2B
If you have a business that is highly professional and requires networking, use LinkedIn. This is where you’ll meet other business owners and connect with them – opportunities await!

Best for: B2C
Pinterest is often forgotten by many businesses; however, it’s still a highly used platform – particularly among middle-aged women for the purpose of shopping, looking for new homes and viewing motivational quotes. This makes it a great platform, similar to Instagram, for fashion companies and real estate agents.

*Note: This is determined by the typical use of each platform. If you’re a B2B company, you should still use Instagram. If you’re a B2C company, you should still use Twitter. The purpose of this is to show that it’s essential for certain companies to be on certain platforms.

Which social media platforms do you use? If you’re not sure which to use, start by thinking about where your ideal client hangs out. Understanding your ideal client, their buying habits, and the way they receive information is very important to being successful with social media. Need help?
